Amadou Kienou

Amadou Kienou is a percussionist and master drummer from the Griot-family of Baba Kienou in Ougadougou, Burkina Faso. He has been playing traditional music since his childhood. On his numerous performance tours, he has visited France, Sweden, Angola, Guyana and, since 1997, he frequently spends time in Germany. In Strassbourg, he coaches the dance companies Dankan and Guina Fare and holds concerts with his multi cultural group Bolibana.

In 2000, Amadou recorded his first CD, "Aya Fo" as well as an instructional video for Djembe and Dununs.

Amadou visits Germany regularly with his drum and dance group Foteban.

He plays concerts, teaches workshops, visits schools and participates in major music festivals. In 2001, he performed in Germany with Herman Kathan (an Arizona favorite!!).

As a solo artist, Amadou Kienou currently presents his new album "SYA", which was released in April 2004 (ISBN 21-750-8083-8).
