Olivier Tarpaga

Olivier Tarpaga was born in Kaya, Burkina Faso and is a dancer, choreographer, storyteller, and Djembe musician. In 1997 he began to tour Africa, Europe, and America as a dancer with the Bourgeon du Burkina. From 1994-2000 he trained with Salia Sanou of Companie Salia Ni Seydou. In 1999
he began to tour as a Djembe drummer with Amadou Kienou and his Ensemble Foteban. In 2000 Tarpaga co-founded Compagnie Tâ, which was selected as one of the top ten contemporary African dance companies for their "extraordinary
energy , grace, and style." In 2002 he moved to the USA where he founded TARPAGA DANCE PROJECT. He currently teaches in the Fullerton and Los Angeles School Districts.
